While handy, shared items showing up all the time can also be annoying. If you want to remove the feature on your iPhone or iPad, here’s what you need to do.

Why You May Want to Remove Shared With You

Shared with You is a feature that aims to integrate shared content from Messages to supported native apps like Apple Music and Safari. It puts content your friends shared with you via iMessage on a separate section on the corresponding app that you’ll use to open the content.

While useful, Shared with You also has its downsides. The biggest drawback of this feature is that it doesn’t update itself. Even if you’ve already opened a link or listened to a track, shared content will remain in the Shared with You section. This makes it easy for shared content to accumulate over time.

This can cause your apps to look more cluttered. Moreover, any content shared by your contacts is added to the section by default. If you don’t like the kind of content your contacts are sharing with you, then you may want to turn the feature off instead.

How to Turn Off Shared With You on iPad or iPhone

Turning off Shared with You is the same for iPhones and iPads. Here’s what you have to do:

Go to Settings > Messages. Tap Shared with You. Disable Automatic Sharing if you want to turn off the feature entirely. If you wish to turn the feature off for a specific app, toggle the switch off beside the relevant app.

Get Rid of Unwanted Shared Content

Shared with You may make shared content more easily accessible, but it also contributes to clutter and may even slow down your device’s performance a bit. Not to mention that it can become really annoying. Personalize the feature by disabling shared content on specific apps or turning off the feature entirely.
